voestalpine sets clear growth targets in attractive future markets

voestalpine is continuing to pursue its strategic course and to focus on value-added growth in high-yield processing segments. At today’s Capital Markets Day, held during InnoTrans in Berlin, the Group is providing insight into its strategic plans and specific growth prospects. The focus lies on the Railway Systems business segment, whose revenue is expected to increase from its current level of around EUR 2.2 billion to approximately EUR 3 billion by 2030/31. Market growth is being driven by the global trend toward sustainable rail mobility and the associated extensive investments in upgrading existing and building new rail infrastructure. In addition to rail infrastructure, the Group plans to continue systematically expanding operations in its Aerospace, Warehouse & Rack Solutions, and Tubes & Sections business segments.

Next milestone for greentec steel: electric arc furnace delivered to the Linz site

Major milestone for Austria’s largest climate protection program: The core equipment for the new electric arc furnace (EAF) at the voestalpine site in Linz has arrived. The individual components, weighing a total of 790 tons, were transported in several loads, mostly by ship. The EAF will go into operation in the first half of 2027. Once fully operational, each year it will produce around 1.6 million tons of steel with a significantly lower carbon footprint.

At the same time, a long-term supply agreement for the locally manufactured turnout systems was signed with Canadian National (CN), Canada’s largest freight rail company. With this expansion phase, voestalpine is consistently continuing its successful local-for-local strategy and, in the run-up to InnoTrans 2026 in Berlin, is once again underscoring its position as the global market leader in complete railway infrastructure systems. At the world’s largest trade fair for transportation technology, the Group will showcase product highlights in the field of digital and integrated technologies for modern rail tracks from September 22 to 25.

voestalpine cares run: employees helped raise EUR 700,000 for international aid projects

In 2026, the voestalpine cares run once again impressively demonstrated what collective commitment can achieve. For the fourth time, employees of the globally operating steel and technology group from 45 countries worldwide participated in the international excercise initiative and collected so-called “cares” through sporting activities. voestalpine converted these cares into a donation totaling EUR 700,000 for charitable purposes. The donations have now been handed over to Doctors Without Borders, Hilfswerk International, the Austrian Red Cross, and UNICEF Austria for selected national and international aid projects.

As reported, voestalpine has doubled its production capacity at its Jeffersonville site in Indiana, USA. The new facility for the production of high-quality longitudinal beams for trucks has now been officially opened. With an investment of approximately EUR 70 million (USD 80 million), the international steel and technology group is strengthening its market position in the North American commercial vehicle sector. The plant is currently in the start-up phase with full production expected by mid-2027. The expansion of production capacity will create a total of 110 new jobs.

voestalpine Annual General Meeting approves dividend of EUR 0.75

At today’s 34th Annual General Meeting of voestalpine AG, a dividend of EUR 0.75 per share was agreed for the business year 2025/26 in accordance with the proposal of the Management Board and Supervisory Board. This corresponds to an increase of 25% compared to the previous year (EUR 0.60). The payment of the dividend will be made starting July 14, 2026 (ex-dividend day: July 9, 2026).

voestalpine unveils further expansion plans for greentec steel at its Donawitz location

As planned, voestalpine will commission an electric arc furnace (EAF) at its Donawitz location in just under a year, thereby combining electric steel production powered by green electricity with its conventional blast furnace process as of 2027. This will mean that one blast furnace can be shut down as early as 2029. Subject to outstanding funding issues being resolved, approximately EUR 100 million will be invested in the further expansion of the new EAF plant by 2030. This would allow the Group to fully transition to electrified steel production at its Donawitz location starting in 2030.
